Week 4

My last week in Semarang was filled with many memories with everyone. On October 24th, I had a meal with everyone at a restaurant near the UPGRIS headquarters. There, we enjoyed a variety of dishes from traditional Indonesian cuisine to Japanese and Korean foods. Indra and Innaky shared some very touching thoughts. The phrase that impressed me the most was, 'We don’t say goodbye, we just say see you again.' We exchanged hugs and tears, knowing that even though we would be apart, our feelings for each other would remain.

On October 25th, we had a day to say goodbye to the teachers at Supriyadi 02 Elementary School and the leadership at UPGRIS. During the farewell at the elementary school, I listened to the emotional sharing from two supervising teachers, Ms. Candra and Mr. Tauphik, along with Mr. Wawan. We also said goodbye to the beloved students there, who gave me many gifts and letters.

After that, we met with the leaders of UPGRIS for a farewell. Here, the school presented me with a school uniform, a certificate of participation in the international teaching internship program, and a traditional Indonesian puppet.

We returned to the International Cooperation Office to give gifts and thank-you letters to the students who supported us here. On the evening before leaving Semarang, we had dinner together, saying farewell to our Indonesian friends in the dorm. And the next day, we had a meal with our supervising teachers. They introduced us to some traditional dishes from Indonesia.

We headed to the airport to return to Vietnam on October 27th. The Filipino students woke up very early to take us to the car. We traveled with Innaky and Linda. When we arrived, they were there to greet us at the airport. We still didn’t say goodbye; we just said see you again.
