1. Teaching methods of the teacher that you observed
At SD Supriyadi 02, during my observation, I noticed that teachers employed various methods in their teaching process. The methods used primarily center around the learners, integrating innovative materials alongside available resources and modern teaching tools to make lessons more dynamic and engaging. Teachers encourage learners through activities such as games, discussions, and group work.
The role of the teacher in the classroom mainly involves
guiding and facilitating students to explore and research independently.
Student assessments are also conducted in multiple formats, including
individual, group, and class evaluations.
2. Their learning materials and innovation
The teaching materials used by teachers are diverse and rich, sourced from various origins, reflecting the teachers' creativity in their instruction. Each type of material provides valuable support for students' learning processes, such as authentic materials related to lesson content or practice materials for students.
+ The sources include books, electronic journals, news
bulletins, etc. The continuously updated information helps deliver knowledge in
a relatable and appropriate manner for students.
+ The learning materials are often created by the
teachers themselves, such as tools used during the learning process. Teachers
create stories that not only introduce students to related vocabulary but also
weave in meaningful humanitarian messages.
In addition to the mentioned materials, teachers also use
other forms such as books and flashcards.
3. Sources of learning and technology used by the
teachers
During my observations of the teachers’ lessons at the school, I witnessed the integration of modern technologies into their teaching. Teachers used presentations to make the lesson content more vivid. Additionally, they employed media such as videos and audio, all contributing to a learning experience that excites students and stimulates their curiosity about new lesson content.
4. Authentic assessment used by the teachers
In Indonesia, authentic assessment is an integral part of
the educational system, particularly since the implementation of the 2013
Curriculum. This type of assessment focuses on evaluating students’ abilities
through real-world tasks and activities rather than traditional tests.
Furthermore, teachers rely on cooperative discussions and
the outcomes of group work to evaluate students. For individual assessments,
teachers can engage students in a dialogue by asking a few questions.
This innovative approach to assessment helps alleviate
students' pressure and also serves as a foundation for future methodological
advancements.
