Like the previous days, today we conducted classroom observations. We observed a Civic Education class in 6A. After that, we continued to watch a folk dance lesson with the students of 6A.
Here, I learned about two traditional dances in Semarang called Biring Manggis.
Today, I had a trial teaching session with my Filipino friend, Ja, in class 2B. The students here were really active and lively, and the class teacher welcomed us very warmly. With the support of Ms. Candra, we completed our trial lesson. Although it didn't go exactly as planned, I was very grateful for the cooperation and enthusiasm of the teachers and students in 2B. The students gave us many gifts, but the one that impressed me the most was a student who drew the Vietnamese flag for me.
In the afternoon, I had the chance to try beef meatball noodles, a traditional dish in Indonesia. I was really surprised by the number of meatballs in the bowl—about 20—while the noodles and rice vermicelli seemed a bit less. The broth was light and sweet, with celery as a seasoning. I really enjoyed this dish.
Every Friday, our time at school ends earlier than usual so that students can prepare for the weekly campfire. After finishing, we went shopping for clothes to prepare for our city tour around Semarang on Sunday.
According to the school's schedule, we have two city tours during this internship. On this trip, we visited three famous places in Semarang: Grand Maerakaca, Sam Poo Kong, Lawang Sewu, and Kota Lama.
The trip provided me with many interesting experiences. In Semarang, I explored places rich in cultural diversity from around the world. Sam Poo Kong features Chinese architecture, while Kota Lama has a European influence.
All of this gave me new perspectives on the city, allowing me to learn more about the people's lives, culture, and cuisine here. This trip became one of my beautiful memories during my one-month internship.
